Winter Park is a great family destination in the summer time. The house is pretty close to some hiking and biking trails.
Free Concerts every Thursday night at Hideaway Park
Beyond simply being in the mountains with great hiking trails, there is also YMCA of the Rockies that has many family activities (horseback riding, zip line, archery, canoeing, crafts, and much more).
Grand Lake is Colorado’s largest and deepest natural lake. There are actually three lakes that all connect and together they are pretty massive. Pretty much all water activities are available: fishing, water skiing, and all sorts of boat rentals.
We also have lots of activities as the base of the mountain (alpine slide, miniature golf, bouncy castle).
There is some pretty amazing mountain bike riding, both opentrails, as well as down the ski slopes (they take you up on a lift and you ride down). This can be a little more challenging, so definitely not for younger kids.
Year around hot air balloon rides. Low-level contour flying allows spotting wildlife, picking pinecones from treetops, or splash’n’dashing in a nearby river or pond. At higher altitudes you get an amazing view of some of peaks of Colorado Rockies. Including Grand, Routt, Summit, Clear Creak, Gilpin, and Boulder County can be seen.
White water rafting. Rafting trips for every level of experience including beginner.
ATV and Dirt Bike Rentals
There is also the Georgetown railroad loop, which many guests love: http://georgetownlooprr.com/
Fishing- there are stocked fishing ponds by Safeway just 2 miles from our home. There is also great fly fishing in the area.
Devil’s Thumb ranch has a geocaching hike with little prizes for the kids, but most importantly: breathtaking views.

The Foundry – Fraser’s movie theater and bowling alley

YMCA of the Rockies is also a great resource. They have miniature golf, roller skating, rock climbing, volleyball, zip lines, archery, canoeing, challenge courses, horseback riding, and much more
